The layers of organization

Projects are the overarching categories which you can create subprojects, experiments, and protocols under. Projects are oftentimes used as research topics or for organizational purposes of sorting subprojects and experiments.

Subprojects are the layer under a project. Subprojects are oftentimes used as files where it can separate outsourced experiments and protocols or are based on an individual level's experiments.

Experiments can be created directly under a subproject or as standalone experiments under a project. Experiments contain many protocols which are conducted.

Protocols are the last layer of organization which is the end-state workspace in which users conduct their work.
