What are the ‘materials’ in an experiment?
‘Materials’ help you and your collaborators identify the reagents and materials needed in advance. You can see material availability across freezer and consumable inventory. Once connected to an item by ID, you can easily navigate to the item info in your inventory from the experiment.
Connect freezer items to your experiment
Navigate to your experiment of interest in Projects and by default, you will be on the Overview tab. Click on Materials tab.
Add a material by clicking on the ‘+’ button.
In the ‘Name’ field, enter the name of the item you are looking for. You will see the suggested items from your inventory in the menu below. Click on the name of the item you want to connect.
‘Origin’ should automatically be set as ‘freezer.’ If not, click on the dropdown button under ‘origin,’ and set it to ‘freezer.’
To save the material, click the button located at the right end of the row.
The material is now identified as a freezer item. Under the column ‘origin,’ you can see how many items are in stock. (To learn about connecting a specific item, keep reading the next section.)
Connect freezer item by ID
Sometimes, you need a specific item for your protocol. Follow the steps above, then continue below.
Click on “+ Add link” under ‘link’ column. You will see a modal with all items in freezer matching the name.
Identify the item you are looking for by ID. Click the arrow on the right to view the item’s source info. (If you don’t see the item you’re looking for, adjust search keywords and make sure the item is created in Inventory > Freezers.)
When you’re ready, click on ‘select’ to link the specific item.
In the materials list, save the change by clicking the button located at the right end of the row.
Now, your material is linked. Click on the linked item to open it in your freezer.
Connect consumable items
Connect consumable items to your experiment by following the same steps above. Simply set ‘consumables’ as the origin to access available items in your consumable inventory.
