Using the protocol document toolbar features

Which features are displayed?

The number of features displayed will vary depending on the status of the experiment the protocol is under. When the experiment is in draft status, the toolbar will have the full list of options, minus the commenting feature. However, when the experiment is in progress, the features are limited to undo/redo, inserting dates/tables/images/links, and making comments:

When the experiment or its parent subproject is completed (or if the parent project is archived), then there will be no toolbar available.

Undo and redo actions

The undo and redo buttons can be found on the left-hand side of the toolbar and can be used to undo/redo edits recently made by you to the protocol document.

Adjust Font

The font dropdown is used to change the font for the line you are currently editing.

Insert lists

Numbered lists and bulleted lists can be created by clicking on the list icons in the toolbar.

The line your cursor is on will become the first item in the list. Highlight multiple lines in order to automatically create multiple items in the new list:

Format text

Several text formatting options are available to choose from. Text color, highlight, bold, italicize, underline, and strikethrough options can be toggled in order to apply these styles to the text you type. You can also highlight existing text in the protocol document and apply or undo these options.

Insert dates, tables, images, and links

Genemod supports a few built-in widgets for your protocol documents. Dates, tables, images, and links can be added via these buttons in the toolbar:

Dates, tables, and images will be added to the next line if the currently edited line is not blank. New links can be inserted at the point of your cursor, or they can be added to the existing text by highlighting the text, then clicking on the insert link button.

Comment on text in a document

Comments can be added to protocol documents while an experiment is in progress. Selecting text in the document will enable the comment button in the toolbar. Clicking this button will add a comment to the comment thread to the right of the document. The selected text will be highlighted and tied to that comment.
